Men Who Can't Love This book saved me from going crazy and from wasting any more of my precious time with a man who is a consumate commitmentphobic. I got this book after a therapist friend of mine said that all my complaining and moaning about my commitmentphobic boyfriend sounded just like the people in this book she'd read - "Men Who Can't Love". I got on line and nabbed a copy. What a life saver! My jaw dropped as I read this book because it describes the behaviors of commitmentphobics precisely as I have been experiencing my boyfriend's behavior. It's so true that the more I pressed him for answers while trying to understand his avoidant behaviors, the more he withdrew from me. "I don't wanna talk about it" is his mantra. All his behaviors were laid out like his biography in this book. It was shocking and revealing at the same time.

I Hate You, Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality This is a great book for an inside look at Borderline Personality Disorder. If you have a person with BPD in life this book is a must have. If you have BPD it will help you understand that some of your behaviors that seem unusual to other are understandable and can be explained and treated.

I have been involved with a CP for two years...it has been a rollercoaster ride because John also has a depression disorder ...he has broken up with me several times for no apparent reason...then always comes back..after me calling and begging...I finally read your book and stopped all that and now he is slowly on the way back except his commitment phobia seems to be making it a slow process

His symptoms of this phobia are:

He can never make plans a head of time...he is always late and sometimes just shows up..never a definite plan

He lived alone then he moved in with roommates..even though he owns 4 houses..and now he is unhappy there

He never finishes anything he starts

He starts to get close...talks about our future and thats when he runs

He cant spend the night at my house because he has nightmares and breaks out in a sweat

He has told me hisself he is commitment phobic...because he was married twice and had some bad relationships and things happened to him in the past. and he doesnt want to be hurt again.. he says if he could get married he would marry me

In the beginning he chased me like crazy..tried to get me to move in with him..talked about marriage..told me he loved me first...made me absolutely crazy about him..then he started backing off

The list could go on and on

He broke up with me about three months ago..and has been calling and coming to see me off and on...I of course at first called and asked to see him...for awhile...then I read your book ..tried to stick by the rules...well I messed up some:)...but in the last few weeks..he started calling and coming around more regular...and last week he came by I wasnt home like he thought I would be and he called me the next day all upset saying he looked all over town for me and demanded to know where I was and who I was with...then he started calling everyday...came over each day this weekend....and I of course started falling into our same routine....he didnt call yesterday ..but did call today....but I have noticed when he was here...he wouldnt take his shirt off like normal and he didnt want to eat..I asked him about it...and he said something about it being to much for him...I understand it to be about him feeling to comfortable and hence more committed..though he did say as if to himself...Im so happy when Im here..I feel like this is where I belong..why is that....I said John I dont know you will have to figure that out for yourself...I believe he would like to be with me in a relationship but the phobia is the problem....I need more info on how to handle the CP...(when will your new book be out?
