Men Who Can't Love This book saved me from going crazy and from wasting any more of my precious time with a man who is a consumate commitmentphobic. I got this book after a therapist friend of mine said that all my complaining and moaning about my commitmentphobic boyfriend sounded just like the people in this book she'd read - "Men Who Can't Love". I got on line and nabbed a copy. What a life saver! My jaw dropped as I read this book because it describes the behaviors of commitmentphobics precisely as I have been experiencing my boyfriend's behavior. It's so true that the more I pressed him for answers while trying to understand his avoidant behaviors, the more he withdrew from me. "I don't wanna talk about it" is his mantra. All his behaviors were laid out like his biography in this book. It was shocking and revealing at the same time.

I Hate You, Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality This is a great book for an inside look at Borderline Personality Disorder. If you have a person with BPD in life this book is a must have. If you have BPD it will help you understand that some of your behaviors that seem unusual to other are understandable and can be explained and treated.

I am not sure where to go from here. I am the CP. Yes, I am a woman. I am 31 years old. I am afraid of commitment with someone that I love. I am not affraid of commitment with someone I do not care about. I have carried on 3 long relationships. Two of them were six years and the other one was two years. I even got married. I did almost hyperventilate during the wedding. Even my father thought I would pass out. He dragged me down the aisle. The whole church was hysterical with laughter.

My marriage was a disaster.

Anyone that I really cared for (subconsciously) I ran like hell from.

I have been single for an entire year. I have tried to analyze my past. I feel very bad about the effect I have had on some men. What I have done to them... I never wanted done to me. It breaks my heart. I have only recently realized this. I never did this on purpose. I didn't set out to do it. It unconsciously happened.

I am a very loyal person. If I am with someone, I would never look anywhere else. It never mattered if I was in true love or not. I was always faithful.

I think for me it evolves from the ability not to trust someone. In trusting someone you are very vulnerable. I do not like to feel vulnerable or not in control. It is not because I do not have any love in me. It stems from something deep inside. I haven't figured that part out. Once I solve that mystery I figure I can probably heal.

So...if you have had a failed relationship with a CP, it is more than likely because they cared about you more than they could ever admit or deal with.

I do hope that admitting the problem is half the battle, because I really do want to be in love again.
